Maybe if this one fails too he can pin it on the location. Not that any of them will buy that, but hey, it's the same spot as the others. Maybe the veil's weird here. It was weird in Kirkwall.

And maybe he's just looking for excuses that aren't Justice when he already knows what the likely flaw is.

Cats. Really. There are kittens climbing on them and Shale was tempted to flick them off like tiny, furry bugs. If it wouldn't upset everyone, that is.

Shale was starting to miss Jonas and his dumb shit, okay? This was foolish, and they're not sure why they even volunteered for this. It wasn't as if they enjoyed the Fade at all.

"Is it ready yet?"

"It's ready." He knows Shale means him now. It's still weird to be seen as an it... but then again, they're a golem. Everything would be it, wouldn't it? The title isn't because he's a mage or abomination. Anders can deal with that.

"It's not exactly eager to go back in. I've been in there a couple of times. As have you, at least once, possibly more, if stories are anything to go by. Here's hoping you don't have a rocky time." Here's hoping he doesn't get punched for that.

Shale grumbles at that, giving the mage an irritated look at the pun. Still, they can't exactly fault them for being hesitant to go back into that damn place. It wasn't as if Shale was looking forward to it, either.

"One too many," they say with a huff, brushing off a kitten from their shoulder so that it lands on Anders. At least they're gentle about it.

"If I end up frozen in place again, it better fix it."

He scrambles to catch the kitten, cradling it and scratching behind its ears before raising an eyebrow at the golem. Apparently Shale doesn't like things climbing on them. It's a good thing he wasn't inclined to try.

"I will do absolutely everything I can to make sure no one suffers any lasting effects from this. You'll not be frozen in place." Knowing Shale has a worry and a dislike makes them far more... real, in a way. "You've come to assist and I'll not forget that."

Hey, they didn't crush it like a bird. Just treating it like the bug that it felt like. People climbing on them was actually preferred over other things. Shale had perfected an attack like that, after all. 'Throw the elf.'

Deadly and they got to throw Zevran.

"It will keep its word, then." It was a confirmation, of sorts. "I came to punch something, so it better provide that as well."

"...You want us to run into a demon?" Of course. Of course the golem would want to take on a demon. Why not? When you're massive and stone, what threat is a demon? Maybe it's even exciting. "We'll see what happens."

What's worse, disappointing a golem, or running into a demon? Anders is a little worried that the former might be the worse of the two.

"Demon, blood mages, sharp rocks. Anything is better than just standing around doing nothing." They were patient, but not dead. The amount of time they spent just standing around was getting to the golem a little bit, and crushing some heads would really ease that feeling.

Murdering bears with the scouts wasn't even as entertaining any more as it used to be.

"It will leave the enemies to me."

"You can take the lead against enemies." That much he can promise. Why not give it to someone who wants it? "Have you joined with any of the dragon-hunting groups? It seems like maybe that would be something along your speed too."

If Shale wanted something to do, there was always that. And it would be a very interesting battle to watch, too.

"Hm. It is a decent mage." That's all the praise in the world from Shale, Anders. Too bad you don't know that. (They're not sorry if it sounds mean.)

The mention of dragon hunting is met with interest, whoever, and they almost light up. Almost. "It would be... interesting to fight a dragon again." Hearing the crunch and the screech under their fists? The fire scotching their stone, leaving nothing but scorch marks?

Yeah. They would like that a lot. A demon or two would do, though.

He glances at Shale, not sure how to take that. A decent mage. It could be compliment or insult. It could mean nothing at all. Arguing with a golem seems like an exercise in futility, really, so he doesn't push it.

"I'd personally pass on future run-ins. Three dragons is more than enough, and I've had my fair share of smaller ones, too. I'll tell you what. Any dragons I find, I'll call you, and you can play with them while I try to put the flames out some. Not like flames seems like they'd be too dangerous to you."

"...then we have a deal, mage." They seem... happy(?) at that. Who knows, really. Maybe just punching something made them at ease, and that was frankly the reason they got into this Fade mess.

Wynne would have given them the look. Sten would probably be proud.

"Did it fight a dragon with Jonas?" Shale suddenly asks, raising a very stony brow.

"I'm Anders, if you could call me that instead of mage, please. And yes. I did. One made of bones. We saw them lying all over Blackmarsh and he decided we should gather them." He snorts. "Apparently, they were enchanted, because of course they were, and once we got them all together they transformed into one. Also of course."

He shakes his head, a little amused. "And then Hawke took us against a regular dragon and a high dragon, so I think I've had enough of a variety."

pretend they said 'the Warden' instead of Jonas, I was tired XD

Shale completely ignores the name thing and instead listens to the story about fighting a bone dragon. "Made of bone? Hm. Sounds very brittle." Easy to stomp into meal, honestly. The enchanted fact probably helped, though.

Then the golem makes a thoughtful huff and shakes their head. "The feathered mage knows a lot of strong people."

Copy that. :D

"The feathered mage, called Anders, has a disturbing habit of walking right into where something's gone wrong and getting caught up in it. Thankfully, yes, I also tend to walk into where there are strong people as well. That's the only reason I'm still alive."

He exhales. "There are days when I think a boring life would have been very nice. But that's not to be my fate."

[dwarfing]

"It is very honest, at least." That's all Shale can say about it, really. The mage was... interesting, though. Something about him was different from the other mages that made their life sour. Maybe it was the Abomination part?

"Is it ready?"

[justice_is_blond]

He exhales. He's not winning this, clearly. Who could really hope to match wills against a golem?

"Yes. It's as ready as it's going to be. Let's."

The golem nods a bit like that and starts moving towards the rest of the group.

Time to fuck with that Fade place again.
