❝the garden❞
Skyhold was... interesting, to say the least. It was a rather big change to the House of Repose and Orlais in general, but he would have to make do. Not that he had much choice, he wasn't exactly about to break his contract. This would bring about potential for art he'd never have a chance for elsewhere. Hopefully.
Adjusting has certainly been a task, but Jhin's found some comfort in the garden. The beauty of the plants was relaxing enough to take his mind off of any frustrations. It's often that he finds himself there, sitting and just taking it all in. Humming quietly to himself.

❝the tavern❞
While Jhin seems to rarely remove his mask, it doesn't stop him from spending some time in the tavern. No he's not drinking anything, more of relaxing and listening to the noise. Perhaps studying Skyhold's inhabitants. He takes his seat in a corner, out of the way. One day he might actually drink something.
Today likely isn't that day.

The garden
"What tune is that?" He can't quite catch it.
no subject
His humming stops when he's spoken to, gaze shifting to Anders.
"Ah, just something from my childhood. I cannot say I recall the name of it."
A finger points towards the kitten, "Yours?"
no subject
Purrelden stills and crouches down before wiggling her butt and leaping into another patch of grass nearby. Anders takes a seat so he's close enough in case she manages to get herself in trouble or if she wants to climb him and get petted.
"Do you have any pets?"
no subject
Watching the kitten, Jhin shakes his head.
"No, assassins generally don't have pets." They'd get in the way he imagines, he doubts the House would allow it either. Perhaps in some situations one could be useful, but the positives could not outweigh the negatives. The animal would be more of a prop than a pet at that point anyway.
"Don't think I've ever had the time for one."
no subject
"Mm. I suppose they don't. Though cats don't take a great deal of time. I simply spend a lot with her because she has me wrapped around her little paw." He's not that used to hearing assassins be open about what they are. Zevran can be because he's Zevran. This guy? Maybe he's well-known too.
"Do you know Zevran? Or are you from a different assassin group?"
no subject
Jhin has little problem being open about what he is, as least when there was no reason to act otherwise. If a job called for more secrecy then he could easily take upon that act, but he was in the Inquisition as an assassin. No reason to hide it. Not within Skyhold.
"Different group. I am from the House of Repose."
no subject
Taking a seat on the ground, a bit out of reach, Anders considers the man in front of him as Purrelden prances back with her prize.
"Oh. Thanks." He takes the cricket and she prances right back to hunting as he discards it off to the side. "So you're here on contract? Or taking a break?"
no subject
"On contact," he begins. There was no reason to hide what he was and there was none to lie about the contract. Anyone doing any amount of digging would find it easily.
"Apparently giving the Inquisition the Golden Demon means quite the bragging rights for a noble family." Jhin shrugs. "I imagine the House would be against me taking a break were it not. Garden's nice, so I don't mind it yet."
no subject
"It sounds like that may have an interesting story attached." He needs to talk to Zevran, find out if there's a way to get any sort of warning if a contract does get put out on him. Sometimes he forgets that Zevran isn't the only assassin remaining, now that the Crows have been basically decimated.
no subject
"Not much of a story, I'm simply good at what I do. A reputation that's done well enough for me." He laughs, shaking his head.
"But where are my manners. Jhin." He bows his head. "A name that rolls off the tongue far better than the Golden Demon. It is a pleasure to meet you... and Purrelden.
"Have you been at Skyhold long?"
no subject
"Mm. You may reconsider calling it a pleasure. I'm known as Anders, and I've been at Skyhold for several months now. Purrelden a little less so." Might as well just get that out there. He doesn't think someone would go for introductions if there was a contract out on him, but at the same time he can't really say he knows how assassins think.
He also can't say if he's being paranoid or if it's justified.
no subject
Anders is quite safe from Jhin, he's got no intention of killing anyone at Skyhold and certainly no contract to say otherwise. Though chatting with a target is something he'd do, he always was a fan of dramatic deaths.
"Mm that is quite some time. It get any easier, being here that long?"
no subject
Purrelden brings back her newest prize, a flower she successfully hunted, apparently, and Anders actually holds onto that one.
"Friends make it better. Apparently, if you stay in one place for any sort of time you start getting to know better. I'm still in the testing phase of this theory, but it's working out thus far."
