In the courtyard of Skyhold there are assorted booths that sell a variety of items. When someone needs armor or other items, they can purchase them. The booth run by a small blond elf holds a variety of hunting traps, fighting traps, and other trinkets. He's fond of crafting little things of amusement, such a toys or puzzle boxes. Those typically don't sell as well, but he still enjoys working on them.
He's tinkering with one of them now, a sort of puzzle toy that has a couple moving pieces. He puts it together and tests it, then figures out he doesn't like the way it works and starts dismantling it to start over. Despite his apparent distraction, the moment someone comes near he looks up and smiles at them, welcoming them to spend gold here if they wish.
ANDERS
He also likes having an excuse to go see Anders. When he seeks out Anders he's careful not to intrude if there's anything too Warden-y going on in the camp, and then waves a bit once Anders sees him. "Hello," he says, grinning at the greeting.

"Hello yourself." He's taken, the Dalish knows he's taken, but that doesn't stop the wink. If anything, it makes the wink completely safe. Anders likes safe flirting. "What brings you to grace my presence? I hope it's more than my cat."

And then, after the required beat, the teasing drops off and he nods to the stump-seat next to him. "Have a seat, and I'll answer anything you need to know. Maker knows I've brought enough into the world to have a good grasp of it."

The offer to sit, though, is welcome. He settles down. "Though, to be honest, the child isn't mine. Just someone close to me. You're a healer, so I thought you might have some experience with childbirth?"
no subject
"I served as the sole healer for thousands who couldn't afford help through regular channels. I've seen a great many pregnancies, and delivered more children than I can count." With a couple of unfortunate ones running around with the name Anders. Maker, does he owe them apologies. "What is it you're looking for, Cyril?"
no subject
"What can I do for the mother? To make her time easier, I mean." That, at least, was said very seriously.
no subject
"There's a great many things, actually. The mother will crave odd foods at odd hours, you could be on call to get the things she's craving, her ankles will likely swell some so salts in warm water are a help, she'll have mood swings so she'd like someone who makes clear they're not offended or bothered to be with her." It's a lot of words, so he pauses to make sure Cyril's got the ideas. "But also, be there for her. I don't know if she's relation or friend, but make sure she knows you still see her as that person, rather than as a pregnant woman. She'll appreciate that."

He thinks that probably gives it away, but then again he isn't sure if Anders already knows that Pel is with child or not.

Given how much the members of it seem to enjoy each other's company it probably isn't too unlikely to think the second one possible.

"Considering there aren't a great many Dalish women here," several, certainly, but it's not like they have enough to even count as a whole clan, "I think it very well might be. Especially as she's told you."
Pel and Cyril seem close, from what he's seen. Anders tilts his head to the side, considering his advice for a moment. "If she looks at all tired, give her an excuse to go get some rest. She may not do it otherwise, an dI know she'd appreciate it."

"It must be nice for her to have family here." A beat as he gets his mind back on track. "If you wind up with further questions I'll be glad to help, but right now all she needs are the basics."
no subject
He returns his focus on the question he had asked. Then, after a moment, he tucks his lower lip in and gets much more serious.
"How..." he starts, but then stops, trying to figure out how to word this. "How many mothers have you lost?" he knows childbirth can be pretty dangerous, but he trusts that Anders will say little to none of them had died under his care. He just needs to hear it.

He has an advantage over doctors, and he's had one over many regular healers, even. By the time Pel is nearing the delivery date, he hopes he'll be back to full spirit healer status. It's a goal.

"That's a lot of mothers and babies who have you to thank for their lives," he said after a moment. "And Pel is as sturdy as a rock, she's bound to avoid those complications."
no subject
Either way, he's able to give Cyril a faint smile. "Pel is very sturdy. Between her and you and me, she and her child have excellent chances."

"And maybe one day it will be far more common for people to accept others than refuse them the care they deserve simply because of birth. Call me on the crystals if you or her ever have need."
