[Open] Toy debates

WHO: Oghren and whoever
WHAT: Oghren is looking for toys or games for kids. For reasons.
WHEN: Various points during the month
WHERE: Market
NOTES: Oghren. Really he's the main warning you need in this.

When one was thinking about a very drunk dwarf who was rough around the edges and more than a little gross and perverted, one did not usually expect to find said dwarf in the market looking around at different toys and games for children. Yet this was where Oghren was for most of this month, studying the different things there and grumbling to himself as he debated whether one was better than another. Would this be fun? Would anyone want something like this one here?

Crossing his arms, he stared at one stand, looking back and forth between a board game and what looked like a wooden puzzle that made a duck. One of those brain teaser things that he obviously he would never be able to solve.

"Felsi's better at this than I am," he mumbled before noticing someone watching him. "Looking at a free show here?"

Okay maybe he was a little moody because he hated being so bad at this. Don't mind him.

[ooc: Oghren is looking for toys/games to send to his kid! Don't mind him being moody though. He's just having issues with the fact that he feels like a failure of a dad for not knowing how to toy shop.]

Going to market was something Sam did on a regular basis, and as such he had seen the dwarf perusing a particular stall on different days. It was enough of a mystery that one day, seeing Oghren staring and debating with himself, that the mage made his way over to see just what was going on.

The snap of words has Sam frowning slightly, but nevertheless doesn't deter him in his curiosity. "I wasn't aware you were giving a show. You've been coming to this stall for days now, but never leave with anything. Looking for something?"

The grumbling has the mage tilting his head, only catching every other word, guessing that the dwarf was... embarrassed? He's definitely not expecting the question that follows. Supposed he should have guessed that was the case considering this stall was filled with children's toys, but it still comes at a surprise - probably because he only knows Oghren for drinking and running head on towards a dragon.

"Girl or boy?" he asks, perhaps just a bit of amusement in his voice, not towards the dwarf but merely that he had seemed to be going at it like it was some sort of battle.

Sam nods at the answer, coming closer to the stall to look over what was for sale. "Is there anything in particular that Bartab enjoys?" While there wasn't a whole lot of variety there was still a lot of toys and knick knacks for children that whittling down the options would help.

Oghren did indeed sound like any proud father would, which has the mage smiling some, perhaps a bit sadly, remembering his own father. "Perhaps you should get him one of the puzzles then? I'd suggest a well crafted chess board, but would there be anyone around to play with?"

"Chess? Can't say I'm great, but I do know how to play." One of the few games that a mage could play in the Circle besides taking up reading every book in the library for a past time.

"Why do you ask?"

That pulls a chuckle from the mage. "I suppose rules would make it easier to learn. I'm going to suggest perhaps seeing if there is a book on it already, one with good illustrations. If we can't... I'll write them down." More like rope his roommate into writing it for or with him since he seemed to really love the game.

Lucky him? He wasn't exactly planning on going shopping for a chess board and rule book, but guess that is what he was doing. "If you... we, cannot find it here there is always a bookstore somewhere in town. Could also see if we can order one from a different town...?" Least he had been able to do that back in Skyhold with Bonnie.

"Can't say I know much about the Free Marches outside of Ostwick myself..." You know with the whole running from the Blight and then getting thrown into the Circle. "But I'm sure with the Inquisitions connections we can put out an order is all I mean. We'll think of something no matter what. Let's go see about getting the chess board first. No point in having rules without the actual game."

Sam likewise was very startled, and very much thankful that he hadn't been standing behind the dwarf. That didn't save him from the smell however, still within range for the foul odor to reach his nose. It was enough to make him gag, before covering both his nose and mouth with his hand and taking several steps back.

The poor merchant was cornered though, eyes wide as they looked at Sam as if he was leaving them to a terrible fate. "Ugh... you should have considered using that on the dragon," he manages to say, trying not to sound sick.

No, he'd rather not do that. As it is he's having a hard enough time with the current smell, more so when he actually sees the dwarf take a whiff of it. Ugh.

Sam looks sympathetic towards the merchant. "Do you have any chess sets? The sooner we look-" He trails off after that, but it's clear that he's suggesting 'the sooner we can leave you alone'.
