So bees aside.

Yes, there was a bit of a bee problem a few days ago in the room that Twisted Fate had acquired while Sera was gone. As he said, all was fair among fellow thieves, and he really doesn't need the room, but it's such a good location he thought he'd... borrow it awhile, at least until it stopped being funny. He isn't even sure he managed to get all of the bees out, but he does need to eventually plan a little strike back to her.

Post-birthday, anyway.

For now, there are drinks, there is cake -- red velvet, thank you -- and little paper hats for you!

Socialize, be merry. Twisted Fate is around somewhere, no doubt.

At this point, there are games to be had, as one might expect.

Wicked Grace and Diamondback are the popular choices, though Twisted Fate might encourage a few drinking games as well. Alternatively, perhaps you come up with your own game.

After all, he's never opposed to try something new.

Plenty of people, perhaps even yourself, has probably taken in so much drink by this point that nothing is quite even and thinking is hard. But it's all in good fun.

Ellana doesn't really know Twisted Fate that well, but she knows he's a Dalish elf who always wears a hat, so she finds him at one point to say hello while cheerfully wearing a little paper hat of her own.

"Happy Birthday. How has your day been so far?" Because everyone deserves to have a good birthday.

The last member of Clan Ashara for him to meet. It's been long overdue, he supposes, but he knows of Ellana, vaguely. Really, he's quite curious to see what she's like in person.

No better time than the present.

"Well, I've arranged a party for my lucky day. I couldn't complain." Twisted Fate smiles at her in return. "Thank you for the well wishes, madame. Ellana, isn't it?"

"Yes," she replies, not surprised he knows of her as she does him. Though she wonders what he knows of her. At the soiree, she had made an offhand comment to Morrigan about her people thinking her a race traitor, and Morrigan had responded that she thought if anyone would be called harellan, it would be the one in the hat. Now that she knows who that is, it makes her curious as to why he would be known as that.

"And that's good. I'm sure you've gotten gifts, too. The people here can be so thoughtful on birthdays." And had she known any of Twisted Fate's interests, she probably would have gotten him something.

"Two, surprisingly. Perhaps I shouldn't be; I'm still adapting to people being so... considerate." More like he's still learning to put trust and faith into people, that he is safe with them, that they will protect him.

That in itself is still difficult to adjust to.

"But I'm quite merry with people just being here, really. Please, I would love to know more of you. I know everyone else from Clan Ashara to some extent. Do you miss the rest of the clan?"

"As long as I get to know about you to," she replies with an easy smile. "And I guess I miss the clan in the general sense. But with individual people: my best friend is still there, and I've always been close to our halla keeper." No mention of her parents, as they're deceased, and no siblings as she has none. "Sometimes I'll get a little homesick, but overall I much prefer life outside of the clan."

"Of course, of course."

Based on what he knows of those from the clan, that's not quite the response he'd been expecting. Then again, he does not know much about her. He hasn't asked, and nobody's told him.

But he approves.

"Truly? Well, it's good that you have such an open mind for it. There are many wonders in the world, better when it's not all full of rifts in the fade and red lyrium."

It isn't paranoia that causes her to believe there are those in her clan that call her race traitor behind her back. She's always wanted to see more, learn more, and knew not all humans could be bad.

"I know. I want to travel once we've won the war." And she believes they will. To believe anything else would be to lose hope. "What about you? Do you miss your clan?"

That definitely earns more of his approval. Beleth seemed to have the opposite idea, commending to the belief that she needed to go home after all of this in order to find herself a proper Dalish husband. Something that he tried to not roll his eyes at. It seems Ellana is a bit more... enlightened and curious.

Good for her.

"A fine idea. I've seen much of the world, but there's always more to explore. One can't assume to know everything." The question makes him pause, and a brow raises. "Well. That's difficult to say. We parted a very, very long time ago. Sometimes I do, I suppose."

"Sometimes I miss the clan too," she admits. "But not enough to want to go back and live there on a permanent basis again." That's all behind her now. Ellana had been trapped as the clan's third mage other than the Keeper, whom no one outside the clan could know about or she'd have been traded away. The Keeper had done her a favor by keeping her after her parents died. At least that had been how it was always presented to her.

"Do you have a favorite place you've ever been? I always ask that when someone says they're well-traveled."

"That seems to be a fairly unpopular opinion among the People," he says wryly. "But it's good to expand your horizons."

Suffice it to say, he likes this one.

"Difficult to say. Everywhere has its benefits, but Rivain was a bit of a second home to me. I learned plenty there, and met some of the most important people in my life as well. And I know the best tavern there, of course. More pirates than they'll ever admit to."

"Oh, I do realize," she says, giving him a knowing look. "But I can't help what I feel." And for too long she's done what's been expected of her instead of what she really wanted.

"Rivain sounds interesting from what I've read about it! Its culture seems so different than most of southern Thedas. Though, I am curious as to how elves are treated there."

"Nor should you stop that feeling."

For too long, most of the Dalish would coop themselves up into their own little worlds and ignore everything else out there. To him, he found that damaging, lost in a romanced history that they didn't fully understand yet, and ignoring the plight of everything else.

He can appreciate her perspective.

"Not as awful as other places I've been. There are some Dalish working on a permanent settlement, as a matter of fact. The only complication are the Qunari in the area, really. But I found ways to avoid them and pretend I wasn't a mage."

Those words -- a permanent settlement -- cause a grin to break out across her face. It's what she's always wanted for the Dalish people. She's wanted them to have four walls and a roof over their head. She's wanted them to be able to plant crops and hand down property to their children. But it's always just seemed like a dream. Who would give them land? The humans claim it all. How would they not be driven off by humans, even if they did have a place of their own?

"Oh, I hope they succeed! It sounds like a real challenge, but the fact that they're trying is important." And now she finally calms down a little to add: "I'm a mage too. The amount of Dalish mages here is a little surprising, but we all have our reasons."
