WHO: Beleth, Cyril, Merrick, Pel, Nari, and Korrin. Then Beleth, Twisted Fate, Velanna, Obi-Wan, Hermione, and Mal. Also Sina is there in their spirit and also over sending crystals.
WHAT: A bunch of people to do a Dalish clan to go argue with a Keeper and then a bunch of people transport a bunch of elves to the clan in question. Interracial politics abound.
WHEN: First part is around the start of Cloudreach, the second part is around the middle of Cloudreach.
WHERE: First part is Ylenn Basin, second part is Val Royeux, then all the way to the Ylen Basin

[Nodding with a small smile as Nari joins them, Korrin listens intently to Beleth's news. That smile soon fades as said news is hardly encouraging.]

It's all the same bullshit, in the end. [Celene was supposedly into helping elves, wasn't she? And yet, Halamshiral happened.]

Then they'll likely need supplies, to replenish what was lost. The more we can bring with us, the better.

[Oh that is too cute. He grins and goes up to Korrin and the child on her shoulders.]

How does it feel to be so tall, da'len? [He asks the child on Korrin's head this but also glances to Korrin to make sure she's not annoyed by the situation. He knows Korrin is far more understanding than others but still he wants to make sure she's comfortable.]

[They're all travelling together, but Cyril still has a habit of going ahead and looking for any signs of trouble. He'll disappear from the group and circle back around to join them again. Just checking and double checking for any sign of battle or demons, it's a habit he picked up from being a Hunter with the clan.

One of the times he comes back with some flowers and passes them around because, sure why not?]

[The tiny girlchild giggles, bouncing a little though it doesn't topple the mountain that is Korrin.]

It feels like I can see -everything-! But I won't fall, she won't let me.

That's absolutely right. Just keep holding on, as I told you.

[She flashes a grin at Cyril, far more at ease than she ever was at the soiree.]

I keep asking if she gets tired and wants to come down, but I think she's too in love with the view yet. It's alright, I've had backpacks that weigh more than this one.

[The hunter reaches down absently for a nearby branch to strip and use as a poker for the small fire, nodding along as Beleth speaks. The news is all too familiar. Shem quarrels were like the windstorms on the plains. There was no bargaining with them. Sometimes all you could do was hunker down and wait for it to go away, hope it didn't last too long, hope it didn't do too much damage.

When Korrin spoke, Nari nodded her agreement.] I brought some seeds of some of the herbs we have that may not grow in that area. As far as quantity... [She 'hmm'd for a moment, pausing in her speech to break off a particularly pernicious twig] We don't want them to think that we think they can't provide for themselves. I don't know this Clan, but if it were Dahlasanor, even as tough as some years are, if a group from the Inquisition came to us offering a big pile of tradegoods, I might look on it as less a gift and more a show of force.

[A dry chuckle] But maybe I'm just proud.

[She snaps the last of the twigs off, tossing it lightly into the fire.] And paranoid.

Just so I'm clear. We're sneak'n in, gett'n people out, and thumb'n our nose at the nobility what treat these people like shit and gett'n them somewhere they can live as they like?

[ There isn't a single part of this job Mal finds objectionable. At all. ]

Or a brothel. Probably a tavern though- didn't much thing elves got taverns in their alienages. Nobles don't like it when they feel like they're people.

[ Grumbling and bitter? Maybe. Maybe a whole lot. This ain't how anyone should live- it's worse than the one in Denerim by a long shot. ]

Probably gonna be further from the gate. Less likely to get trouble from guards if they can't hear shit.

I suspect that we're being watched, followed, and potentially worse.

[He's a good elf and doesn't remark on Beleth's statement of the elves needing to be educated. Instead, he sighs and shrugs; the important part of that the city elves will find homes elsewhere.]

I wouldn't either, for a chance to see the top of everyone's heads.

[He really didn't need another reason to think that you're Really Cool, Korrin, but here it is.]

Does my hair look all right from up there? [This is directed to the little one.]

[The tiny girlchild looks him over, then whispers to Korrin, who nods.]

There's a stray tuft that's sticking up, but she can fix it for you. See, that vantage point is already coming in handy.

[He came closer then and stood on his tip toes to let the child fix his hair.]

[Leaning in, Korrin tips the giggling girl downward and waits until she's done, smirking as she straightens.]

She left you a present. Maybe you can start a nice flower crown with it.

[This gets enthusiastic nodding from Korrin's shoulder-elf.]

A flower crown? Those are so pretty!

I have one. It was a gift from a friend. I brought it, if you'd like to see it?

[He only brought it because he was wearing it when they left Skyhold. Now it's with his things.]

There's some magic on it so the flowers don't wilt.

Yeah but is it supposed t'be on fire?

Really?!? I want to see!

[That happy gasp gets Korrin to chuckle.]

I'd forgotten about that contest. Fun times. [She'd ask what he did to earn it, but some things are probably best discussed away from small children.] Go on, show off. You earned it, after all.

[Cyril chuckles a bit and then pulls away to go get his blossom crown. Honestly, he'd likely be wearing it now if not for the fact that he wanted to be taken seriously. When he comes back with it he offers it to the little girl.]

Do you think I can trust her to wear it for a bit? [He asks Korrin, in that voice that shows that he is going to let it happen but he has to pretend like it's a big deal. Also to solidify how important the crown is.] I mean, it is very rare and was a gift from a friend.

[gatheringstorm]

Hm...that is quite an honor. Such a gift has to be treated very carefully.

[Korrin smiles up at the little elf girl, who's quick to protest.]

I'll take care of it! I promise!

[samahl]

[He passes it up to her to wear, but despite how relaxed he is, Korrin now has to deal with him lingering around for a bit to make sure it doesn't get damages.]

[Korrin reaches up to carefully guide it onto the tiny girl's head. It doesn't fit as nearly as on Cyril, of course, somewhat skewed thanks to her smaller size.]

Merrick has been doing much the same, often crossing paths with Cyril. He sometimes shows up with some fresh game and cooks it for everyone later, but mostly he keeps an eye out for threats and dispatches them immediately. Right now he drops down from a nearby tree and lands next to Cyril, swiftly and silently; he can't resist showing off some of his assassin skills.

"Do I get one too?" he says sarcastically, nudging his brother.

[ If there is any certainty in Merrick's life, it's that he and Korrin are unmatched in battle together-- And he has experience fighting wolves; the scar on his lip is proof of that. This is going to be a cinch.

He's on the animals that Korrin has weakened, and briefly tussles with one before he slits its throat. It's all very familiar. ]

[Compared to the high dragon they faced together, a pack of wolves is nothing. It's barely worth it to put up a Barrier anyway, but multiple opponents have a way of getting in those pesky surprise attacks. Merrick's work doesn't go unnoticed, and she has to grin at that style and efficiency. It's always good to fight with someone who knows what he's doing.]
