Ariadne wrinkled her nose. "I hate asking common questions," she said, "I apologize for that."

The thing of it was, Ariadne normally didn't need to ask common questions. She had such fine instincts and she was such a skilled spy that she could usually sort out the obvious things for herself.

This was a plain reminder that there would be no more 'obvious' things. Not while she was here.
