"I wish," he snorted. "I would flown far away from here long before now, taken a few of everyone else with me probably too." Like Sam, and some of the other mages, save them from this uncertain world where people could so easily turn on them. And Rifters, of course. Try and find their homes, or at least something close to it.

"Well, you would be surprised. The laws of physics that we know actually do apply across the universe, and most life follows many of the the same basic rules that we know, with variations between planets and environments. That's what makes it amazing when you find something that breaks that mold, you know?"

He coughed and shifted.
