Herc's halfway to kneeling down next to Max when Teren steps forward, and the gesture stops him short. One hand, his left, is already rumpling Max's ears, but he looks to Teren sharply and slowly draws himself back up. With a slight smile he accepts the offered grip, firm and steady.
"Thank you." Quiet, rough, and it feels like there's been so much emotion poured out of him that it's pointless to try and mask it. "She's lucky to have you. And so are the Wardens."
