James receives the note just as he is finishing up with his paperwork, gathering it up. The note brings a touched smile to his face - Vivienne never sends notes when she can simply have the messenger offer the invitation out-loud. So he is quick to reply, after tucking the message safely into his pocket for safe keeping. He can lock it into his room later.
