Raylan had stepped in close and was standing the closest. He jumped back with that lunge, and lashed out with his staff before he could think about it. A bolt of lightning arced from it and connected with the child's heart. Praying for calm had passed, and now Raylan was just hoping he could end it quickly. He was ready to move if it kept coming, and the slightly hysterical thought that he hoped the others liked him enough to hit it too crossed his mind.
