It would make sense to save them, all things considered. There wasn't any guarantee that they'd be able to find something fresh later on - or even if they did, it might only be a wee beastie or two, not enough to make a meal out of. He wasn't about to turn down a chance for a taste, though, and he takes the spoon with obvious enthusiasm, bringing it up to his lips before realizing there's a good chance he's going to wind up burning his mouth if he's not careful. After a second or two, he carefully blows across the top of the spoon to get the soup to cool down a bit before tasting it. When he does, it's worth it, and he can't help but make an undeniably pleased sound somewhere in the back of his throat.
"Say, that's good!" Still, he looks thoughtful as he hands the spoon back to Avery, considering her request. "Now, I'll not complain if you do decide to put some carrots in, but...well, to tell you the truth, I like it just fine the way it is. You're better at this than I'd be, anyway, since I only know how to make a few things. If you think it doesn't need carrots than that's alright by me."
