Kirk started when Sam called his name, whirling to face the mage. His heart hammered in his chest, though he couldn't say why. No, that wasn't true. He knew why it hammered, why he had this nervous twist in his gut. He shook his head, pushing it aside and instead marking towards the mage with a soft twist to his mouth, a crinkle of concern in his brow.
