"Hermione," he repeats, arching a brow and waiting for any indication he'd said the name wrong. Content, he presses a casual kiss to her knuckles - that's what fancy medieval types do, right? - and releases her hand. Nothing particularly flirtatious or romantic, if a kiss could ever be described as utilitarian.

"Thank you! Excellent," the man murmurs, pulling the book closer and flipping through the pages, eyes roaming each one for perhaps five seconds at longest, lips moving briefly over unfamiliar words.

"You can ask me whatever you like," he answers distractedly, glancing up for a moment and flashing a cheery smile before looking back to the book. Flip...flip...flip. At that pace he could certainly read it in a matter of minutes.

"I was reading a book about magic, then mages, and that took me to another about Circles which mentioned Grey Wardens so I went to read about those. That lead me to a chapter about Orlesian Wardens, which got me more curious about Orlais. Then in the book I was reading about Orlais they mentioned Wyverns so I went to read up on those and the book I was reading at that time mentioned distant cousins and Gurguts were suggested, and there was a picture next to a Wyvern," he pauses, inhaling deeply before puffing a sigh and continuing on the verbal adventure.

"I thought "Oh, those are really neat, can you have them as pets?" since they're sort of like larger versions of these reptiles back home, so I wanted to read more about taming animals in Thedas. Before I did that I thought I should stay focused and read what I could find on Gurguts - particularly Orlesian ones since they have the most color - but the lady I asked said the only book she knew that had an extended article on them was already taken so I did some asking around and it lead me to you!"

He's not going to apologize for his roundabout manner of education, ma'am. He's not even aware it is.

"The mating cycle question is about eggs, seasons, things like that. If I get a chance to go to Orlais and it's the right time I might be able to snag one. I don't think this book has anything about it, though. So far looks like it's mostly the practical uses for different parts of Gurguts," he sighs, propping his head in one hand and turning pages with the other.

"Do you know anything about them?" he asks, flicking his lime-green eyes up to her face with a curious expression.
