The captain is honestly surprised when Zevran lets him take the child. For a moment he feels a flutter of panic since he's just fine interacting with children, holding them is another thing entirely. And he didn't, for a second, doubt Zevran's threat. Carefully he wrapped his arm under Luci's legs and placed a hand on his back to hold him in against his chest, giving a playful growl to the child.

"Eh, you might not say much, but you're taking it all in, aren't you little bear?" he asked Luci with a grin. "How's your night going?" he asked of Zevran, making the bear-claw at Luci again.
