It's through travel with everyone recently that Metaari has come to realize that... well. There aren't a lot of battle chefs around. Not that he considers himself a chef, either, but at least he knows how to do a little more than stick meat over a fire. And now it's time to impart his knowledge on others so that they, too, may eat a little better when on the road. And, you know, assuming they aren't in such dire straits that they can afford to spend a little time pampering themselves.

He's still quiet for a moment, lips pursed together slightly. "It got a bit more... awkward than the simple 'they don't want outsiders here' sort of thing."

Metaari finally lets out a faint, almost amused laugh as he shakes his head. "Word about my relationship with Merrick spread very... very quickly. The matching split tooth necklaces around our necks were a popular talking point.

"Thank you. I suppose there's a fair amount of creativity required when it comes to working with explosives." And an even larger amount of being slightly off one's rocker to even dare. He has both of those things in spades. "I enjoy learning tricks and tips from others and working them into my own designs."

"And then Merrick told them to fuck off, I bet." Korrin flashes a grin at that, knowing what she does about both his devotion and sense of tact. "In the end, it's only his opinion that matters, anyway."

That bashful expression surprises Korrin, until she glances down and breaks out into a grin upon seeing the dragon's tooth. "Hey, congratulations! And here I was wondering if I was the only one around reviving that custom. Good for you, Merrick. Metaari's an awesome guy."

Anders resumes cutting at the incline, shrugging after a moment at the comment.

"It makes them more enjoyable and also adds a... guilt to it. As if I shouldn't be taking a break, because there's so much to do. Which is why having someone pushing at you to ease up a little helps." He gives Metaari a small smile and a shrug. "Or it balances it out. But you must have to deal with some of it as well, being qunari."

"That makes sense. Maple is for syrup or candy. It has a sweet flavor and I can see the flavor of its smoke being light because of it." While she knows plenty about cooking, it all comes from books. It's not the same as getting experience from someone who has done this sort of thing before.

"Is there anything I can do to assist?"

"I don't know," Merrick mumbles in reply. He feels guilt threading through his ribs even though he knows he logically shouldn't. He hasn't done anything wrong... right?

"She...she thought we might have Bonded someday, she and I."
