It was a good thing to note, though - that the wounds inflicted by the shard did not heal as quickly. It would take more to really prove that theory, but Kirk wouldn't be the first to offer up being the one firing the shots. He certainly didn't want another accident - in bed or otherwise. He shuddered to think what would happen if he let loose a sudden shot in the refugee camping.

"Heh, true. I'm forgetting the most basic lesson - expect the unexpected," he didn't fight the other's touch. The shard didn't hurt much anymore, though it sometimes ached, but the pain of first receiving it (still a mystery on its own) had long faded. He shook his head in answer to the question. "No, not anymore. Sometimes it aches a little, especially when I've gotten off shots, but other than that - nothing. Sometimes I forget it's there, really."
