Sometimes people vanish. Sometimes there's a trail to follow, and luckily for these two, there's some information about where they were going.

"They don't," he says after several quiet moments. "They don't," he repeats with a shake of his head, half to himself. If they did, he wouldn't actually have any friends and even he knows this. After another pause, Anders gives her a faint smile.
"Though I think we can both agree who got the easier end of the deal when it came to Chantry investigations."

Laughing, Merrill squeezes his hand again, content to let their hands dangle between their horses as she sits up a bit straighter again. "Definitely. They also didn't talk to me personally at all, which I find a bit silly."
The Chantry clearly doesn't work if it won't even ask a mage to their face if they use blood magic.

The smile grows a little stronger as well as a little wry. "Of course they didn't talk to you. Lower themselves to speak with a mage? That would have been the day." They'd have to admit a mage was a person before questioning them, after all. After a moment, he tilts his head.
"Would you have admitted it? If they had?"

She's thought about this. Even now, she waits for people to ask her to her face in Skyhold, when out on Inquisition errands, or at any other point.
Leaning forward, Merrill lets herself drape over Honeysuckle's neck.
"And if they tried to kill me for it, there'd be at least some people upset, I think. I don't want to be a martyr, but I'd be one if I had to be, I suppose."

"Sometimes it seems like being a martyr would be the easiest path there is." He and Justice had been ready for it, back in Kirkwall. Now he's got reasons to live which include the creature currently trying to lure him into falling for the exposed -tummy trick and a man riding not too far away. "It's better to live and try to sway people in person, I think. Then again, there's Andraste."
