Teren had seen the amount of effort Bethany had put into shielding the rest of them from the snow, and had little patience for the girl trying to do anything else at the camp, instead insisting that she rest. No watches for her, no chores: she had done her part during the day, and would likely do it again on the morrow.

They were a few days away yet when Teren approached Bethany, crouching beside her to scrutinize her face and make sure she wasn't in the throes of a very pleasant and relaxing death.
"You're using your lyrium reserves sparingly, I hope," she prompted, a Teren way of saying 'how are you, please be careful'.
