The Doctor shrugged. This reaction was exactly why he didn't talk to anyone about anything. They never really understood - only assumed they did. It was also why he tried to not care what people thought about him. Because it never mattered. Their opinions of him didn't change that he would always save as many people as he could.

"What's the point in growing up if you can't be childish sometimes?" He shook his head, that was said under his breath, as was the next bit. "Long scarf, moved past that." Louder he said, "I've been called far worse for far lesser reasons."

He considered himself to be far worse, so in the end, it didn't matter that Iskander told him this much. Though, he would argue that he's not a child. Teenager. Rebellious and stubborn. Sophomoric. Idiot. He knows he's all those things. But this is the only environment where it hasn't worked for him so expecting him to change much this early would be just as foolish.

"So, that's it then? Just going to give up on even working together?"

Because, that's what it sounded like.
