They really had been through a lot of terrible ordeals together, hadn't they? Though Fenris would hardly have called any of that the worst that he'd ever been through. That distinction belongs elsewhere, to a past he's still trying to outrun in his way.

He'd run across some trickier than usual slaver rings to track down, though, and it had all proven more of a challenge than he'd anticipated. He can't bring down the worst of Tevinter alone, not the more powerful foes. Even he can be outnumbered and overpowered, for all of his strengths. "That was why a change of scenery was in order."

At the news, though, he's genuinely pleased for her. If anyone deserves it... it's definitely her. And given who Al is, and what he's seen of him, he's a good match for her, better than good.
