foxsays: (Find the comfort in the storm)

Everyone needs to eat. Given the stories Araceli's heard while walking the docks, sitting with the sailors to play cards or dice or to talking with them, most of what these fish get are things that have been dumped. Possibly riddled with something or other. Who knows if anything with red lyrium in it from the Gallows ended up in these waters too.

"I don't come from a country. We're a whole nation of islands, think a great archipelago with a very big central island in the midst, with waterways that run through that too." It's not always the easiest thing to explain without the aid of drawing something and with her hands occupied as they are but she'll try. "We have different docks for different uses, different people and then different waterways. Certain times of year you can't always use part of the docks because of the storms. Our poor live nearest to the docks, the rich further in."

Still, she considers it, stopping the work to attempt to stretch out the cramp in her hands for a moment. "When you have the only navigable shipping lane and folk still have goods they need and want to sell, you're still at something of an impasse. Hightown would be driving it and they'll send someone else to down here for them so they won't actually have to see it with their own eyes, the same for most in any sort of political office. You don't see a problem until you actually see it."
