She is so used to anonymity that sometimes she forgets to introduce herself, as if giving her name might give someone power over her. A treasure that belongs just to her, her only possession she'll keep forever. Never her family name, unless it's required for some reason--her family comes from nowhere, faded into nothing, dust ground into dirt swept up with grime. No one will remember her brother. Her mother will not remember her (with enough swill in her system, at least). Rachette Dakal means less than nothing. But Rachette alone...might mean something someday to someone. If she plays her cards right.

She's not very good at cards herself, but she can bullshit the rules as she goes. It's worked okay so far.
