"The ruins... make me sad," she admits. "They were once places where my people lived, or worked, or worshiped. But they also excite me, because it connects me to the past -- to them. I get to walk where they walked and see what they saw. At least somewhat. They're ruins, after all. But the mosaics or statues that survive are what they saw too."
