The concept of family being a bad thing is a little bit foreign to someone like Rey. She would give up anything to know who her family was, to feel like she truly belonged somewhere. Even if Maz Kanata had said her family would never return for her, she still wanted to know them. Know if they were still alive, or if the reason they'd never returned was because they were dead on some distant star.

The way Yngvi speaks though, makes it clear enough to her that not everyone feels this way.
