Ellana knows stories. But the thing about growing up in an isolated clan is that their stories easily differ from those of both other clans and the outside world. For instance, the person who told her the story of the Fifth Blight and the Hero of Ferelden only knew titles, not names. So there was the Hero, his Warden ally, the Bard, the Witch, the Assassin, etc. It wasn't until joining the Inquisition that Ellana actually learned their names and that they were there among her.
And so Ellana knows the mother of vengeance. But she isn't sure if the story she knows is complete. She glances up at Morrigan. "I think I do. My people call her Asha'bellanar, and you call her Flemeth." But they're getting off the topic here, which had just been Ellana making a joke about dragons and mages.
