It's not unheard of for Orlesian children to beg for a pet fennec, though he thinks it such a pedestrian creature; something a Ferelden child would want to stand apart from all the dogs running about, smelling up the country. He had had a pet bird with beautiful plumage. Of course, he quickly tired of its constant cawing or whatever it is that birds do, so he had his father get rid of it.
