Consequences have never meant much to Benedict, because for the most part, there have been very few for any of his actions. But he is learning respect for them far more quickly than anyone would ever want to, and he isn't sure what he's more afraid of, the fighting Templars or the towering Atticus. He looks up at his mentor, hand still held out as though to shield himself with or without the barrier, and is terrified by what he sees. He takes a deep breath and tries the spell again, this time with success. A small dome of energy surrounds him, through which he maintains eye contact with Atticus, anticipating the worst.
