Cade is still way too out of it to really process what's going on, but he takes the rope as prompted and holds fast to it until Iskandar repurposes it. He watches dumbly as the scene unfolds, and as an afterthought fumbles with his bow again, peering over the railing with a newfound terror. It's not Beleth, but James isn't much better. It was a good call to go over as quickly as he did.
