He wonders at her phrasing for a while, mystified by the implication that she knows of anything that exists beyond Thedas, when the continent's greatest explorers and cartographers still consider its borders the be-all and end-all. It isn't that he's unfamiliar with the concept of rifters; after all this time, not even Simon could remain oblivious to it, but his mind only settles on that too-obvious explanation after several seconds of puzzlement.

"If anyone's ever found out what lies beyond the Amaranthine sea, I don't think they've lived to tell the tale," he says. "But you come from further than that, don't you? Beyond the Fade itself."
