Sam couldn't help but be glad that the other refused to take the rest of the cheese, willing to give it up though he was. The elf's plan of finding cheddar to take to his friend instead seemed a highly superior arrangement, and when he offered bread and honey, Sam warmed to him yet further, perking up in interest.

"I never would have thought to try cheese and honey together," he said, even as he reached for the bread and dribbled a generous helping of honey on top. "Won't you have some too? We aren't wanting for bread, anyhow."
