When Anders comes home, it's to a few plaintive meows. Not Purrelden's. No, Purrelden is sulking by the window as if nothing has changed. Rather, Nathaniel is in the room with a bundle of towels in his arms. When the door opens, he turns around, looking apologetic.

"He had a lot of fleas," he starts with right off the bat, "and he was very dirty and needed a brush and he wouldn't stop eating..."

At the top of that bundle of towels is a small orange head, a kitten looking merely curious and not at all oppressed.
