These spirits have been tormenting people from the moment the Veil thinned over the Gallows. That isn't to say there haven't been spirits of Hope, Wisdom, Faith and others here as well, but the ones associated with negative emotions are so much more prevalent. Not surprising when one knows the history of the Gallows.
