Rifter types. He'd heard talk of them, but isn't sure he'd met any before. It does explain the confusion some, though. There's a fair chance the man doesn't understand why the questions were so important to Anders, or to any mage. And 'well enough," well. That's hard for someone who isn't a mage to judge to begin with. But he can't entirely blame this guy for not knowing.

They're an entirely untapped group who could perhaps be on the side of mages having freedom and rights.
