"Seeker of Truth." The title is breathed out and he looked past Varric as if he could see her now. Maker. After all of the running away he did, he wouldn't have been surprised if his phylactery had wound up in Seeker hands, and knowing that there was one here who had been asking around after Kirkwall was worrying. Funny, how she went looking after everything went wrong in Kirkwall. Typical of the Seekers, really. Every group that was supposed to be keeping an eye on Templars always seemed to look the other way when it was mages who were paying.
...But it wasn't really like Anders could deal with that right now. He and Justice needed to narrow their focus rather than attempt to bring everyone to justice. If the net was cast wide, it would fail. They would fail.
"I'll try not to get you stabbed, Varric." It probably wasn't the most encouraging thing he'd ever said, but Anders really would try. He liked the thought of still having a friend.
"And no. I didn't know it had a good spymaster. They didn't advertise that. But what am I supposed to do? Justi--" He broke off and lowered his voice back down. "We need to be here. The future of mages may well depend on how the Inquisition decides to treat them, and if I can help at all, after the... after, I must."
What he'd done needed to be done. But he'd crossed lines in doing it, and as he hadn't had to pay with his life, he should still pay with the remainder of it.
