"Are my affections for Salvatore on trial here?" Now poised on the defense, Alayre listens with a new set of ears to Leblanc's carefully laid words. He can tell off the bat that she means him no ill but this is not a conversation he expected to have with her upon such a joyous day. However, now is probably as good a time as ever for him to sort out his thoughts about Salvatore. It's time for him to be honest with himself.

"For better or for worse, I feel dedicated to pursue this relationship." He states evenly as he weighs out all the disastrous ways this could end in misery. "I do not and did not intend for this relationship to become what it has but I found intrigue with him. I know of the consequences I could face." He frowns a bit. This truly sours his mood but it cannot be helped. "Happiness is an allusive beast often best left to chance if nothing else."

He pauses for a moment as he tries to collect his thoughts. There's much to ponder about and not much time. "My loyalty to the Inquisition remains steadfast and as strong as ever. While relations between the inner factions are still quite a mess, my hope within Skyhold is renewed. We're all that stands in the face of true evil and I don't plan to falter now after risking life and limb to venture here."

He lets out a tense sigh. "Alas, I'm being pulled towards two different directions." He's being -selfish- here. How can he possibly pursue this and still follow what he set out to do? Alayre cannot afford to be distracted. There's so much on the line and he doesn't even truly know what Salvatore thinks of him. Maybe this this nothing other than a fling. Hell, maybe this is real! Alayre can't bloody tell. All he can really say is that his intentions are as true as they could be.

"Fear not, Lady Leblanc, it's not intention to harm him or sour the Inquisition's good reputation."
