Given his panic, it takes Cole a minute or two to realize he is being demonstrated to - but once he does, he is at least in more familiar territory. Watching and listening. He can do that. He's done that for years.
He's clumsy with the tableware, as though he's never used it before - but he tries to match what he is being shown to the best of his ability. The food is delicious, and while it's not something he does frequently...it does feel nice to do something about the hunger that always gnaws at him.
He tries to look up to try and communicate his thanks to the stranger who is clearly trying to help him - but in the process he loses track of what his arm is doing and he knocks into a glass of water. It tips, but he manages to catch it before it spills - dropping his fork onto his fork with what feels like a painfully loud clatter onto his plate.
Wincing, he dips his head down into a bow, the tips of his ears reddening a little.
Embarrassment is...still pretty new to him. Especially when it would be unacceptable to simply slip away, flicker, fly.
