Many of their men are already off at the Exalted March. Maybe there's a way to use their faith as a lever to save their lives?" He's not entirely sure how he feels about the Chantry anymore, or the ethical implications of what he's suggesting, but he is very sure that the greater good of keeping these people alive outweighs either.
