Tension ratchets up slightly at the prospect of the search.

Not that he has any concerns as to wrong-doing. Ellis is fully unarmed for the first time in years, and the search ahead is an unwelcome reminder of that. Still, he is obliged to undo the buttons of his coat, let the lapels fall open, as he is unmoored from the hook of Bastien's arm.

A raise of eyebrows, tossed back to Bastien before Ellis is instructed to step this way, please telegraphs clear skepticism without any actual words spoken.

It feels monumental, even without a clear grasp on what exactly this sort of library is, how it functions. All this knowledge, set out for people without having to first prostrate themselves before the Maker, or nobility of one flavor or another?

Feels like a stretch to Ellis, who has little optimism about people's better natures.
