The first rule of both improv and adventuring: yes, and. Nothing is ever gained by ignoring the friendly skeleton, or not touching the shiny doo-dad. That's just science.

Part of Ness does feel like as the most junior member of Riftwatch present she should be in the back—Stephen is both more important and more experienced than her, if one of them is going to be snatched into the darkness by murderous skeletons it should probably be the one of them who can be replaced easily—but an equal part wants to get brownie points for being biddable, so: off they go with Ness sandwiched between Stephen and the skeleton. It leads them slowly further down into the Necropolis, moving as fast as its old bones can carry it while Ness and Stephen amble impatiently behind.

"I don't suppose we could go any faster?" Ness asks, then immediately regrets when the skeleton stops and turns around to look directly at her, Binder's knots that's horrifying—

"I retract the question," comes hastily, hands raised in surrender. The skeleton looks past her to Stephen, bony expression the same as ever except maybe now with an air of the nerve of kids these days, amiright? Whatever Stephen's reaction, it turns back around and keeps walking.

Mercifully, it's only a couple more minutes before it stops and points them toward—

"A... box?"

Two, in fact, though Ness has only noticed the stranger one—it's made of something brown that almost looks like paper, and emblazoned with a curved arrow insignia, held closed by what appears to be tape.
