A shriek and a shriek and a shriek, almost caterwauling, like an alarm. Startled, he shoves the skull back into Ness’ arms, at which point it instantly ceases in satisfaction.
“That’s better,” the skull says, pleased. “She saved me. I like her far better than you.”
