armd: (jaw clench)

Abby shrugs a shoulder and says nothing, swallowing against the unease prickling up the back of her neck. It's... strangely invasive to sit here and watch her question play out over Clarisse's face, note every strand of frustration and unhappiness in her reply. This is difficult for her. She's upset with what's going on, with Abby, but try as she might she can't connect any of this information together.

Even though it makes a weird amount of sense.

When she thinks of sharing that tent for weeks with Ellie after the destruction of the tower, how they stuck firmly to either side of it — was that really to keep from, even accidentally, touching? Or was it because somebody else was there the entire time with them, occupying the middle?

All that stuff in her room. The extra bed, the clothing that isn't hers; the shield bearing Clarisse's name. Abby's frowning, jaw set. Teeth pressing together at the back, a firm, familiar pain until she realises it and releases a breath to try to relax.

"... Okay." This is hard for her too. She's not saying I believe you out loud but it's definitely implied when she continues, "Then why don't I remember that? What happened?"
