Abby, conversely, does not have to be roped in to helping Ness with a bandage change — she's here on purpose for her shift in the infirmary and arrives already briefed, a little wary. When Yara's arm was amputated there was blood, sweat and the stink of disinfectant in the air and Abby doesn't think she'll soon forget her uncomfortably pale smile or the jacket sleeve knotted off at her elbow. Part of her is nervous Ness will look the same, but she doesn't. They're a few days out from the incident and she's had some time to recover, her body already pulling together, working out what to do now that part of it is missing.
