"You sparred with Gavin--?" Her brows knit in worry, and a bit of consternation. "You didn't go too hard on him, did you? It's impressive enough that he didn't stab himself--" Wait, Krem probably wasn't interested in hearing about her nagging about her clanmates. Instead, she just shook her head, a wry smile on her lips. "Forgive me, apparently I still think I need to cluck after him like a fretful hen. And I'm sure that you wouldn't let him get himself hurt."

She has to nod at his next point, though. Sorrel was important. Frustratingly important. She couldn't help but wish that Pel and Sorrel had switched--Surely she was even more important. And then Sorrel would be here, complaining in her ear about all these shemlen while she tried to keep a straight face. "I'm sure he'll figure out how to get into trouble without me."
