"Thank you," he responded, nodding in acknowledgement before hefting the bale onto his shoulder and preparing himself to climb back down to the stables. It wasn't that he did not find the company pleasant, she was perfectly delightful, but she did unnerve him a bit. Most Dalish had that effect on him given his past experiences, so he did tread lightly.

"Most of them are no doubt caught up in the war, I'd been drawn to the problems happening in Emprise du Lion which, incidentally, coincided with the Inquisition," the second part of her question did raise an eyebrow and he shook his head, "I've no family to miss or to bring with me, I was part of a dying line of nobility and once my parents were dead I was sponsored by a distant relative who is now deceased."

Not the whole truth, but he wasn't about to give up his secrets.
