"Oh, I didn't see it that way at all," Hermione remarked with a shake of her head. "That makes it sound almost mystic. No, magic is just another kind of energy, one that some people are able to access and utilize, and other people can't. There's no telling why, since it's not always a matter of genetics - wouldn't that be an interesting study, though! - but I don't think they're linked to anything necessarily preternatural."

Then again, that was the benefit of learning about magic at a relatively young age, even if she'd been fairly mature at the time. It was much easier to just accept something as truth when someone can pose it in a logical way and provide proof, regardless of how much it might shake worldviews.
