Then the Orlesians became greedy, and resented us for not worshiping the Maker, and they marched on us. We lost the war, and were told to either worship the Maker or leave. Those who submitted became city elves, and those who refused became nomads, with no permanent home. That is why we are called Dalish elves, as a reminder of what was taken from us."

Ellana may be an optimist who tries to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but she has a natural prejudice against Orlesians as a whole.
