There's a pause before Hermione asks, "Would they search me?" She doesn't like breaking the rules, no, but she doesn't feel comfortable not having her wand. It might not be doing her a lot of good at the moment, but it's better than being caught in something bad and having to rely on whatever horror show wandless magic would be like.

"It's not that I intend to turn myself into a risk. I just... we don't go anywhere without our wands. If there was a place I could securely lock it up, it would be fine - not that I assume strangers would root through my things! But... it's a precaution, you understand."
