She hasn't thought of herself as a child in years; that's hard enough to do when one is more mature and ambitious than most of her peers, never mind when one has gone through as much as she has. And besides, she might petulantly say if it ever gets brought up verbally again, she'll be turning twenty on her next birthday, so that hardly counts as a "kid".
