Cade does not volunteer. He does the opposite of volunteer, hiding as far in the back of the audience as he can manage, the knuckle of one finger nervously pressed to his mouth. Perhaps he's afraid Fate will do something violent or frightening; perhaps he's just curious, and always looks like this. Perhaps it's a bit of both.
